The Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail (LGC) is gaining momentum, with a major design and preconstruction contract now officially awarded.

The ActivUs consortium, comprised of Acciona, CPB and UGL with SMEC and WSP, will form the LGC Rail Alliance with the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Rail.

The scope of works for the LGC Rail Package includes duplicating the number of rail tracks between Kuraby and Beenleigh from two to four, removing level crossings, modern station upgrades, and improving access and connectivity along the complex 20-kilometre project corridor.

The LGC Rail Alliance will now commence the design process and project planning activities, and undertake further site investigations.

The LGC Rail Alliance will also engage with the community and key stakeholders throughout 2025 to seek further feedback on the design and provide an update on future project activities.

This announcement of the preferred Proponent for the LGC Rail Package follows the contract award of the LGC Open Level Crossing Removal and the Loganlea Station Relocation project in September 2024.
