Engineering Surveyors in Australia can now apply for the updated National Engineering Surveying Certification v2.0.

The Geospatial Council of Australia (GCA) has released the updated National Engineering Surveying Certification v2.0. This updated certification reflects the evolving needs of the surveying industry and aims to provide more flexible, accessible certification pathways for professionals across the nation.

Previously known as the Engineering Surveying Professional – Australasia Pacific (ESP-AP) Certification, the revamped v2.0 introduces new standards and processes to ensure it continues to uphold excellence in engineering surveying. Following a thorough review by the Certification Committee, industry stakeholders, and a dedicated Working Group, several key changes have been introduced:

Key Enhancements in v2.0:

  • Revised Eligibility Criteria: The certification now includes a minimum AQF 5 Diploma and new work experience requirements, making it accessible to professionals at varying career stages.
  • Two-Tier Structure: The new system offers General and Specialist certification levels, providing flexibility based on core competencies and specialized skills.
  • Updated Competency Framework: Modern skills such as Data Management and Data Analysis have been added, ensuring alignment with the industry’s current demands.
  • Digital Application Process: A streamlined digital system replaces the former points-based system, creating a more transparent and user-friendly application experience.
  • Assessment Interviews: To ensure a comprehensive evaluation, candidates will now participate in interviews as part of the assessment process.
  • New Fee Structure: Application fees are set at $550 for GCA members and $950 for non-members, with additional fees for adding specialized sub-categories later.

Applications are now open for the National Engineering Surveying Certification v2.0, with the next intake deadline set for 15 November 2024.
