Lara Station upgrades underway

21 February 2021 – Media Release

The first stage of the Lara Station upgrades works is part of the government’s $328.4 million investment in critical public transport and roads maintenance and upgrades, Minister for Public Transport Ben Carroll said.

North Geelong, North Shore, and Lara stations are among 16 key stations to receive a $24 million package share. These upgrades are predicted to support jobs and deliver improved facilities for passengers along the Geelong corridor.

The Lara station’s initial works will involve a refurbishment of the station waiting room other stages to follow.

A team of six contractors will be working on-site to deliver a fresh coat of paint for the waiting room and new carpet to help make the precinct more inviting and comfortable for passengers.

Crews will continue to follow strict protocols as set out by the Department of Health and Human Services on worksites to protect workers and the community’s health and safety during the works.
