As a Diesel Mechanic you will:

  • Repair and maintain diesel engines.
  • Use computers, instruments and specialised tools to diagnose and repair faults.
  • Measure parts to ascertain the extent of the damage and wear and tear and then repair or replace the parts.
  • Analyze drawings to determine the specifications of the components to be constructed.
  • Determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations and machine settings.
  • Assemble and fit machined parts.
  • Inspect fabricated components to ensure that they are the correct size.
  • Test repaired parts for proper performance.
  • Create a suitable maintenance schedule and performing system maintenance accordingly.

Requirements to be considered for a Diesel Mechanic role in Australia:

  • Relevant qualification – Mechanic or Diesel Technician, with Red Seal qualification being highly beneficial.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the similar role.  
  • High attention to detail and display a positive & self-motivated attitude.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and be able to work in a team environment.

Getting your overseas qualifications recognized

Diesel Motor Mechanics migrating to Australia are required to complete a skills assessment through VETASSESS.

Depending on your experience and qualifications, our clients will offer a salary ranging from AUD $70,00 to $100,000 base + super per annum.
